PURCHASE TICKETS AT HB RSL RECEPTION (HBJBC Members $25 / non-HBJBC members $30) BACKGROUND – Performing jazz-hop funk peppered with energetically swinging hard-bop standards and vulnerable ballads\, PHIL employs an array of woodwinds– three saxophones and flute. The focus is on deep grooves with exceptional interplay that brings as much fun as beauty into jazz\, mixing the colours of jazz harmony with the energy of hip hop. Expect some risk taking on a sonic adventure by some of the Sunshine Coast’s best improvisers\, with renown film composer and arranger on DENIS FELETTO on keyboards\, OJ NEWCOMBE on bass and MITCH FRANCIS drums. PHIL has also performed at Melbourne International Jazz Festival\, Mont Kiara International Jazz Festival (Malaysia)\, Kuching Jazz Festival (Malaysia)\, Stonnington Jazz Festival and toured Australia and Asia with jazz\, funk and other acts over his 25 years as a professional musician. He has recorded two albums as a leader and appeared on many as a sideman. He performed on ABC TV’s Spicks and Specks with R’n’B sensation THNDO. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
