A Night with Starshine

A Night with Starshine

-By Kim Parnell-

Starshine is no ordinary tribute to Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks. This powerhouse ensemble delivers something truly special — capturing the magic, energy and unmistakable sound of one of the greatest bands of all time, while adding their own unique sparkle.

Backed by decades of live entertainment experience, Starshine – A Tribute to Stevie Nicks & Fleetwood Mac features former members of Dreams, including Nikki Canale (ex–Las Vegas, USA), alongside Krissy Keys (keys/vocals), Matt Skea (drums/vocals) and Regotron (bass/vocals). The lineup is completed by newcomer Mitchell Jon (guitar/vocals), whose arrival adds fresh energy to an already formidable band. Together, they deliver exceptional musicianship, dynamic yet polished performances, and a subtle touch of Vegas flair.

Spanning Fleetwood Mac’s greatest hits and Stevie Nicks’ iconic solo career, the setlist is a journey through timeless classics — from the raw emotion of Landslide to the driving energy of Go Your Own Way. Each song is delivered with the spirit and authenticity that made these tracks legendary.

More than just a tribute, Starshine is a celebration of music that has defined generations. With deep respect for the original artists and a passion for delivering an unforgettable live experience, the show invites audiences to relive the magic of Fleetwood Mac in all its glory. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or discovering the music for the first time, Starshine promises a night of nostalgia, energy, dazzling costumes and timeless songs that continue to captivate audiences.

I recently caught up with Gold Coast entertainer and performer Nikki Canale, who, along with her fellow band members are bringing Starshine to the Hervey Bay RSL later this month.

Life before Starshine took Nikki’s performance journey all the way to Las Vegas, where she spent eight years immersed in one of the world’s most demanding and exhilarating entertainment scenes.

“I lived in Vegas for eight years and performed in pretty much every casino on the Strip,” she said. “I fronted rock bands, and my main house band was based at Mandalay Bay, where we performed for about two years.”

For Nikki, the pace was relentless — and thrilling. Performing six or seven nights a week, no two shows were ever the same. “I’d often play two nights a week with my band at Mandalay Bay, while juggling other gigs around the city,” she explained.

From performing on Fremont Street in front of thousands to appearing in large-scale production shows with stunning dancers and world-class bands, Nikki’s Vegas years were filled with unforgettable moments. “I was very, very lucky,” she said.

Fast forward to today, Starshine – A Tribute to Stevie Nicks & Fleetwood Mac has given Nikki the opportunity to collaborate with a band she describes as both exceptionally talented and deeply connected. From costumes, dialogue and storytelling to production and visuals, every element of the show has been created by the band themselves.

“This isn’t a thrown-together cover show,” Nikki said. “It’s something we’ve built from the ground up, with heart and soul.”

Each member brings their own skillset to the production, creating a polished yet personal tribute that honours Fleetwood Mac while allowing the band’s own personalities to shine through. The result is a show fueled by genuine camaraderie — something audiences instantly feel.

Starshine sits firmly in tribute territory rather than imitation, staying musically authentic while incorporating storytelling, iconic costumes and fully live performances, with no backing tracks. “People want to hear the songs they fell in love with,” Nikki said. “We do everything live, as close to the originals as possible.”

The show takes audiences on a journey through Fleetwood Mac’s eras — from mystical beginnings and emotional ballads to high-energy moments that have crowds dancing by the end. With fans ranging from eight to eighty, Starshine continues to prove that this music transcends generations.

Behind the scenes, a dedicated production team ensures every show looks and sounds exceptional. “Our crew are a huge part of what we do,” Nikki added. “They care as much as we do — and it shows every single night.”
