Twenty years ago, Community Bank Hervey Bay opened its doors with a simple idea: that banking could do more for a community than just hold its money. Two decades on, that bank is woven into the fabric of life on the Fraser Coast, and it’s just getting started.
To mark the milestone, Community Bank Hervey Bay is throwing a party, and the whole region is invited.
The 20th Anniversary Community Showcase takes place Saturday 13 June at Seafront Oval, Hervey Bay, from 10am to 2pm. Entry is completely free, and the event has already generated plenty of buzz ahead of what’s shaping up to be one of the Fraser Coast’s most anticipated community days of the year.
Think of it as part family fun day, part community expo. Dozens of local groups, clubs and charities will be there, each with hands-on activities designed to get you involved, not just informed. Whether you’ve been meaning to try something new, find a cause worth backing, or simply discover what’s happening in your own backyard, this is the place to do it. There’ll be live music from local performers, displays of athleticism from gymnasts and martial artists, food trucks to keep everyone fuelled, and a look inside the work of the Fraser Coast’s emergency services.
For kids who like to explore, there’s an added reason to see everything on offer. Throughout the event they’ll be collecting stamps from our stallholders to earn themselves a prize, making sure families get a proper look at everything the day has to offer.
It’s the kind of event where you might just find your family’s next favourite ‘thing’.
To mark the milestone, Community Bank Hervey Bay is throwing a party, and the whole region is invited.
The headline moment goes well beyond the fun. Community Bank Hervey Bay will take to the stage to announce $200,000 in community grants, with funding going to local organisations doing real, meaningful work across the Fraser Coast. If you’ve ever wondered how a community bank actually makes a difference, you’ll see it live.
It’s a fitting way to mark 20 years, and a reminder of what community banking looks like when it’s working.
“Reaching 20 years is something we’re incredibly proud of, but for us, the real celebration is the community itself,” said Branch Manager Alex Kruger. “This showcase is our way of bringing everyone together, shining a light on the incredible groups doing great work across the Fraser Coast, and showing what’s possible when a community invests in itself. We can’t wait to welcome everyone on the day.”
The event runs from 10am to 2pm, so if Saturday morning means sport on the sidelines or on the field, you’ve still got time. Wrap up the game, grab some lunch from a food truck, and make an afternoon of it. Come for an hour or stay for the lot. Either way, come.
