The Dunga Derby Car Rally kicks off once again

The Dunga Derby Car Rally kicks off once again

The annual Dunga Derby is about to kick off for its 3rd year!

The Dunga Derby is the annual fundraising event that sees up to 50 teams and over 200 people take part in a 4-day car rally – a lot of fun as the themed DUNGA cars must be over 10 years old and cost under $2000. In the lead up to the rally the teams fundraise for six months with loads of events – everything from barefoot bowls to BBQ’s, obstacle course challenges and even a High Tea. The Fraser Coast buzzes with activity and the business community get right behind them, sponsoring the teams and their Dungas.

All funds raised by the Dunga Derby go to the Rally for a Cause charity.

In the last two years over $300,000 has been raised for Rally for a Cause and has gone to assist over 20 recipients/families. In a region such as the Fraser Coast, a serious medical condition or personal family tragedy can mean a loss of income, costly travel expenses for treatment, expensive medical related equipment or home renovations and extended stays away from family and loved ones. Rally for a Cause’s goal is to help people in our community ease this burden and financial strain where we can.

All the funds raised support people in our own Fraser Coast community – it is raised here and stays here!

The Dungas will be leaving for the Rally at 7am, Thursday 3rd August from the Hervey Bay RSL with an Outside Broadcast being held by Radio HIT 101.9.

Everyone is more than welcome to come down and welcome the Dunga’s back for the “Homecoming” event at Seafront Oval on Sunday 6th August, with the festivities starting from 12.30pm. You will be able to see the Dunga’s cruise along the Esplanade and then join them for an afternoon BBQ and entertainment.
