Rotary’s Living Expo is a weekend of entertainment, displays food and much more, aimed at the whole family which has been running at Seafront Oval in Hervey Bay for over ten years. Over 100 exhibitors and around 5000 visitors every year help make this event the success it is, helping Rotary spend over $400,000 in Hervey Bay as a direct result.
Caravans, campers, motor-homes, boating, fishing, gardening and other stands offer the public a chance to see the latest products often at discounted rates, and an array of food is always on offer while you relax and enjoy a host of professional musicians, live medieval re-enactments, live Star Wars characters, living dinosaurs and other oddities.
There are great deals on travel and lifestyle products, advice on hearing, solar power, security and retirement. The kids are well catered for with face-painting, rides, games, food and entertainment.
There are two Rotary Clubs in Hervey Bay made up of about 100 business and community leaders who volunteer to serve their community by creating and funding projects that will make Hervey Bay a better place for everyone. Together they plan and host the Living Expo.
The Expo has funded or contributed to many well known local projects including Hospital House, the Hervey Bay Community Centre, the All Abilities Playground, PCYC, Volunteer Marine Rescue, mobility aids and medical equipment, shaded areas and gardens in schools and hospitals, training and education for mental health, aged care, the homeless, women’s shelters, children’s literacy and much, much more.
Rotarians believe in “service above self”…that no matter what your status in life, you are never too good to give back to your community through something as simple as cooking a sausage, planting a tree, or helping those in need in our own region and beyond.
Rotary is currently the worlds highest ranked charity mainly because the cost of its administration is paid for by the members through membership fees, and not public donations meaning that everything you give Rotary, goes to the projects they’re funding.
