The popular Annual Torbanlea Picnic Races are on again this month. We are hoping to have six to eight horse races planned throughout the day.
This is a great committee event and certainly one not to be missed. The local clubs who use our grounds are all helping out on the day, along with other local groups volunteering at the event.
There will be kids’ entertainment with jumping castles, rides and a petting zoo.
As in previous years lucky tickets will be available on the local races too this is always a crowd pleaser. Last year we tried for the first time, what we call Tent city, in which people were welcome to come and set their own tents up in one area only. It was a huge hit, so we have decided that we are doing it again this year. Tent city also has its own bar in the area.
Our VIP tent is going strong again, we have not increased the cost for the patrons, ticket prices are: $95.00 per head or you can book a table of ten for $950.00, prices include, finger food by Bay Fusion, free beer tickets, free admission, and a spot in the track-side tent where you can watch every race. Music this year will be by the great Derek F Smith.
We welcome people to bring their own blankets and chairs to sit on the grassy areas around the grounds. Our food vendors are all local within our region, there will be a great selection of food, from curries, sausage sizzles, burgers, pancakes, chips, salad, ice cream etc.
We will have a wine bar and our tent city bar along with our main bar for everyone that would like a cold beverage.
Our sponsorship of the event is going strong, with a lot of local businesses coming on board this year. Fashion of the field is also a great event, and the tug of war for the big boys and girls are very popular. The legend Lennie Jansen is again our announcer for the event.
It will be a great day for young and old. We look forward to seeing everyone there.
