2017 Theme ‘Timber’ Our Story
Where: The Maryborough Showgrounds
The Fraser Coast Agricultural Show is definitely up there as a must-do on the Fraser Coast Events scene, and certainly an event that my family looks forward to each year. To us, it is the remembered smells, the sounds, and vibrant colours. There is always so much to both see and do for adults and children alike that you are guaranteed to sleep well when you get home. From Side Show Alley to the Main Arena, the many Agricultural displays, to the vast array of rides to keep all ages entertained.
There will be a Rodeo Spectacular on both nights commencing at 6.30 pm. There will be broncos, bulls, barrels, fireworks, and lots more. (The Rodeo is included in the Admission price), Prepay your tickets online now.
If Barrel Racing is your thing on Friday, May 26 get along to a fantastic fund-raiser to benefit local boy Jacob Kattenberg in his quest to attend NBHA Youth World Championships in Perry, Georgia, USA. For full details go to the Fraser Coast Agricultural Show Society Inc Face-book Page.
The Maryborough Show was founded in 1875 and the first show was the next year in 1876. It has undergone several name changes over those intervening years to the Fraser Coast Agricultural Show Society we know it as today. In 2015 the show celebrated its 140th birthday which has seen many generations pass through its gates as well as numerous exhibitors display their arts and crafts, produce, and animals.
The joy it has given to people of all ages over those years as families flocked to enjoy the entertainment, the food, the fun and wonder of ‘sideshow alley’ from all areas of the Fraser Coast, the highlight of the year for many. – Information sourced from local Historian Bev Cornwell.
