Oztag Fundraiser!

Oztag Fundraiser!

Written by Sarah Weinert –

The very first games of Oztag were held in Cronulla and St George (NSW) in December of 1992.  In 1994 the Australian Oztag Sports Association (AOSA) was formed into an incorporated organisation. AOSA has a passion to help provide opportunities for people to participate at all levels of Oztag by developing, promoting and managing the game of Oztag in Australia.

Oztag offers a fast-paced, exciting sport enjoyed by male, female and mixed teams of all athletic abilities from four to sixty years of age.  It is a non-tackling game with limited contact, and the rules are designed to encourage this.  Passing, catching, tagging, evasion and kicking are skills utilised in Oztag. The game is played over two twenty-minute periods, with eight players from each team on the field.

While Hervey Bay maybe a little smaller than some of the venues around the state, we sure don’t let this stop us.  Our most recent achievement was securing our own fields out at the new Fraser Coast Sports Precinct.  This has opened endless opportunities to expand our club by welcoming new and returning players each season across all divisions.

We are holding a Family Trivia Night as a fundraiser in October. All funds raised will go towards shade structure, seating, and other much needed equipment.
