2021 WOOD & CRAFT EXPO

2021 WOOD & CRAFT EXPO

Obviously due to COVID-19 issues the club was not able to have its annual Wood and Craft EXPO in 2020.  However, this year it is back and will be even bigger and better.

The Wood & Craft Expo Day will be held on Saturday, 31 July 2021 and hosted by the Maryborough Woodturners and Craftsmen Guild Inc. at the Maryborough Showgrounds. This eagerly awaited annual event will run from 9am until 2:30pm.

Visitors will be able to view displays and demonstrations of timber milling, woodturning, woodcarving, scroll saw work and pyrography. Well known woodturner Len Mengel whose specialty is eccentric turning will be demonstrating over three sessions on the day. Contact the Guild for more information to reserve your place for a session.

For woodworkers needing material for that special project, slabs of timber, as well as turning blanks from the club’s stock of camphor laurel, silky oak, mango and bunya pine, will be on sale at very reasonable prices. The S/E Qld Woodworking Mobile Showroom/store will be on site to satisfy your equipment needs. Check out the online catalogue and give them a call to ensure your item is on board.

Trade suppliers will also be attending to provide visitors the opportunity to stock up on craft products and equipment, much of which is not readily available locally.

Guild members and other art and crafts groups will display and sell their wares. This will be an opportunity for visitors to purchase that special, individually crafted gift.

A sausage sizzle will be operating, and soft drinks, tea, coffee and cakes will also be on sale.

There will be a raffle of three prizes drawn at the end of the day and admission is free.

The Guild was formed thirty-five years ago and operates from dedicated workshops at the showgrounds. The facility is open most Wednesday and Saturdays from 8:00am to 12:00pm with special focus days on the first Friday of each month.  Tutoring is available and membership is open to anyone over the age of twelve.
