Bond Store

Bond Store

Step back in time

Walk the earthen floors of this former store for her Majesty’s Customs Service and discover a time when opium was a legal import and the rum trade flourished.

The core of the building dates back to 1864 and still retains the original floors, handmade bricks, and barrel rails. It provided secure storage for goods that attracted a tax including cigars, tobacco, rum, wine, spirits, and opium.

Today the Bond Store has been reinvented as a store for regional produce and houses fascinating displays and artifacts documenting Maryborough’s Portside history.

You can sample a range of delicious regional ports and liqueurs in the authentic surrounds of the Bond Store. A small provedore on-site provides a range of regional produce and products for sale.

For a unique experience, book Tipples and Tales to listen to The Gauger’s intriguing stories of the Bond Store’s past as you sample regional ports, liqueurs, and platters.
